How to Prepare a Spatchcock Turkey

Spatchcocking a turkey is a technique that opens up a world of possibilities when it comes to roasting this festive bird. Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary materials. You’ll need a sharp chef’s knife, a meat mallet or the bottom of a pot, a cutting board, and a roasting pan. Additionally, you might want to have some paper towels or a clean cloth handy for cleanup.

Step 2: Thaw the Turkey

If you’re using a frozen turkey, ensure it’s completely thawed before spatchcocking. This process can take several days, so plan ahead. Place the turkey in the refrigerator and allow it to thaw slowly. Once thawed, remove the giblets and neck from the cavity.

Step 3: Remove the backbone
